The most common reason for a fast-blinking turn signal is a burned-out bulb on that side of the vehicle. The flasher system is intentionally designed to blink rapidly to warn the driver that a bulb has failed.
If you recently replaced standard halogen bulbs with aftermarket LEDs, the LEDs draw significantly less power. The vehicle's flasher relay interprets this low power draw as a burned-out bulb, causing it to hyperflash.
The flasher relay is the component that physically controls the blinking rhythm. If the internal bimetallic strip or electronic circuitry begins to fail, it can cause the signals to blink erratically or at double speed.
Moisture intrusion can cause corrosion inside the bulb socket or at the ground wire connection. This creates high electrical resistance, mimicking a burned-out bulb and triggering the rapid blink warning.
In rare cases, the mechanical switch inside the steering column can wear out or develop internal shorts, sending incorrect voltage to the flasher module and causing rapid or erratic blinking.
