If your vehicle is showing shuddering or shaking feeling when taking off from a complete stop, here are the most likely causes and the parts you'll need to fix each one.
Worn or broken mounts allow the engine and transmission to twist excessively under initial torque. This causes driveline misalignment and a noticeable shuddering sensation as the vehicle begins to move.
A worn, glazed, or hot-spotted clutch disc and flywheel will slip and grab unevenly as you release the pedal, creating a violent shaking. This is frequently caused by failing to resurface the flywheel during a recent clutch replacement.
Worn universal joints or a sagging center support bearing change the driveshaft angle under load. This causes a driveline vibration that is most severe right at take-off. Improper driveline angles from a recently installed lift kit can also cause this.
Pitting or wear inside the inner CV joint housing causes the axle to bind slightly under heavy acceleration from a stop, resulting in a side-to-side shuddering feeling.
Degraded transmission fluid or a failing lock-up clutch inside the torque converter can cause slipping and shuddering when power is first applied to the drivetrain.
