If your vehicle is showing high-pitched squealing noise from the front of the engine, here are the most likely causes and the parts you'll need to fix each one.
Over time, the rubber drive belt stretches, dries out, or glazes over. This causes it to slip on the engine pulleys, producing a high-pitched squeal, especially on startup or under heavy electrical load.
The spring inside the belt tensioner can weaken, failing to keep the belt tight enough. Alternatively, the bearings inside the tensioner or idler pulleys can dry out and squeal as they spin.
If the belt was recently replaced, it may have been routed incorrectly, the wrong size was installed, or manual tension was not set properly. Fluid spilled on the belt during service can also cause slipping.
Low power steering fluid or a failing pump creates excessive resistance, causing the belt to slip or the pump's internal bearings to squeal. This is usually most noticeable when turning the steering wheel.
