If your vehicle is showing heavy vibration under the floorboard at highway speeds, here are the most likely causes and the parts you'll need to fix each one.
If a rear tire loses a wheel weight, has uneven wear, or the wheel is bent, the resulting rotational imbalance travels through the suspension and is felt strongly in the floorboard or seats at highway speeds.
The universal joints allow the driveshaft to flex with the suspension. When the needle bearings dry out or bind, they cause a heavy, rhythmic vibration directly under the floorboard that changes with vehicle speed.
Vehicles with two-piece driveshafts use a center support bearing mounted to the floorpan. When the rubber isolator tears, the driveshaft wobbles and transfers heavy vibration directly into the cabin floor.
