The battery lacks the necessary cold cranking amps (CCA) to spin the starter motor at normal speed. This is the most frequent cause of a slow, labored crank.
Corrosion or loose clamps create high electrical resistance, preventing full battery power from reaching the starter. This frequently occurs if terminals aren't fully tightened after recent battery work.
Worn internal brushes, failing bearings, or a dragging armature inside the starter motor require excessive electrical current to turn, resulting in a slow crank even with a perfectly healthy battery.
